Grzegorz Lato was top scorer in, and the inspiration behind, Poland's impresive showing in the 1974 World Cup Finals. The balding winger made 104 appearances for his country, scoring 45 goals in the process, and he was a regular member of the national side for 13 years. After playing in the 1978 World Cup, he was allowed to leave the country and move to Belgian club Lokeren.
