England's so-called "Captain Marvel", and the nation's sole world-class outfield player during the side's barren years in the early 1980's, Robson who was a workaholic mid-fielder who led by shining example. His return of 26 goals - often crucial - in 90 internationals shows his immense value. He captained his country in 65 successive internationals and, but for a nightmare collection of injuries (during his career, Robson suffered some 20 breaks and dislocations), he would have comfortably exceede a century of appearances. Robson became the player manager of Middlesbrough, and his renown enabled this unfashionable club to sign Juninho and Fabrizio Ravanelli. He would inspire tham to their first FA Cup Final in 1997.
